Data Tables

Please read the help before viewing data tables!

All NLTS2 Waves 1 - 5 data are available on the web, including parent/youth interview, school survey, and student assessment data. Users can download and view the data in cross-tabular format.

All NLTS2 data are weighted estimates for youth receiving special education that generalize to the national population. Each variable of the Wave 1 parent interviews and Waves 2 - 5 parent/youth interviews is cross-tabulated by disability, age, gender, income, and ethnicity. Each variable of the Wave 1 and Wave 2 school surveys is cross-tabulated by disability, age, gender, income, ethnicity, grade, and urbanicity. Each variable of the Direct and Alternate Assessments is cross-tabulated by disability, age at the time of assessment, gender, income, ethnicity, grade at the time of assessment, and urbanicity.

To find the data that interest you, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Choose the data source (e.g., parent interviews, school surveys).
  • Step 2: Choose the conceptual area (e.g., school experiences, household characteristics, etc.).
  • Step 3: Choose the topic.

Each selection you make determines the choices available for the next step. Once you have made your selections, you will be presented with a set of tables (in pairs - one for each cross-tabulation and one for standard errors). The data tables represent the percentage of the population who responded in each of the possible categories (percentages for discrete response categories sum to 100 down the columns. *Most response items do not sum to 100%.). All data are weighted estimates for students receiving special education that generalize to the national population.
